Compass makes healthy eating easy with innovative new 500-calorie meal plan

A pioneering meal solution from Compass, whole + sum, is set to provide a helping hand to customers looking for healthier choices at breakfast and lunch.

The concept is simple; every meal is made up of three delicious mix and match components, and no complete dish adds up to more than a dainty 500 calories. Each meal component comes with full nutritional analysis, too - meaning a tasty and perfectly portioned balanced meal with full visibility of what's on the plate.

Compass continues to put health and wellbeing at the heart of its business, and following the launch of the Government's Responsibility Deal in March last year the company continues to roll out a series of initiatives to help consumers make  informed choices about what they are eating. whole + sum is a market-leading core food offer that addresses the fast growing demand for healthier menu choices and clear nutritional information.

Rolling out across the business this month, the concept of whole + sum has been developed from a successful initiative introduced by Compass' American colleagues. In the whole + sum menu, every lunch plate is made up of 250 calories of protein, 200 calories of carbohydrates and 50 calories of vegetables or fruit. At breakfast, a plate is no more than a 500 calorie breakfast with 100 calories of fruit and 100 calories of juice or smoothie and 300 calories from a starchy carbohydrate.

As Nick Vadis, UK Executive Chef, Compass UK & Ireland, explains, "whole + sum may be the healthy option, but that doesn't mean it compromises on taste. The delicious recipes are bursting with flavour - gone are the days of balanced food tasting bland. The great range in the whole + sum offer even includes popular favourites that many people may not think could be included at this calorie level and I've no doubt it's going to be a big hit with our customers."

Taking influence from the Middle East, Asia and the Mediterranean, each and every dish offers fantastic variety and is packed with tastes to savour. There are over 80 different lunch recipes across all three components, meaning an amazing total of over 200 plate combinations - ultimate choice!

So whether you fancy chicken breast with honey and mustard, boulangère potatoes and a side salad, or a baked pepper stuffed with vegetable chilli, crushed new potatoes with spring onion and a Greek style salad, the choice is yours. whole + sum has something you'll enjoy - and all for fewer than 500 calories; perfectly portioned, every time.
