Portrait of Alan Baker-Green

Executive Chef - Government Services Sector

Alan started his career in 1978 in the Royal Navy serving on ships and shore establishments for 23 years. During this time he gained a wide range of catering experience to set him up in his career. Serving at the Royal Navy Cookery School, Alan spent two periods training and assessing new recruit and advanced chefs to NVQ 2 and 3 standards.

Alan joined Compass Group in June 2003. His first role was executive chef at the Joint Service Command and Staff College (JSCSC) at Shrivenham, Wiltshire, a purpose-built residential training establishment for Military officers from over 50 different countries. Alan went on to the Defence Academy heading up a catering team responsible for delivering over 2500 meals a day, together with numerous conferencing, traditional military dinners, and VVIP functions including royalty and heads of state.

In March 2008, Alan was appointed to the role of executive chef for Government Services. His experience in service catering has been key in supporting the role out of a standard food offer within our military units throughout the country and the hospitality offer delivered into our specialist markets division during 2009.
